By downloading or using UV Index ("the app"), you agree to these terms. They are short, and we have tried to keep them in plain English.
UV Index shows current and forecast ultraviolet index estimates for your location, along with general sun-protection guidance based on the WHO/ARPANSA UV scale. It is an informational tool, not medical advice. UV estimates come from third-party forecast models (WeatherAPI.com) and can differ from actual conditions — cloud breaks, reflection from water or sand, and altitude all affect real exposure. When in doubt, protect your skin anyway. Decisions about sun exposure, sun protection, and skin health are yours, and anything concerning should be raised with a qualified health professional.
The forecast in this app should not be used as the sole basis for decisions involving personal safety. We recommend you also check the official UV forecast published by your national authority — in Australia, ARPANSA and the Bureau of Meteorology; elsewhere, your national radiation protection agency or meteorological service.
You may use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes on devices you own or control. You may not reverse-engineer, resell, or misrepresent the app or its data as your own. The app's design, code, and content remain the property of Ostapenko Studio.
Remove Ads is a one-time, non-consumable purchase processed by Apple's App Store or Google Play. It permanently removes advertising from the app on devices signed in to the same store account, and can be restored at any time via "Restore purchases" in Settings. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies, not by us directly.
The app depends on third-party services (WeatherAPI.com for UV data, your device's location services) that we do not control. We may update, change, or discontinue features at any time. We aim to keep the app working well, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law, or under any other consumer protection law that cannot lawfully be excluded where you live. Subject to that, the app is provided "as is", and to the maximum extent permitted by law, Ostapenko Studio is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the app — including loss arising from inaccurate UV estimates. Where liability cannot be excluded but can be limited, it is limited to re-supplying the app or paying the cost of re-supply.
These terms are governed by the laws of Australia. Any disputes are subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Australian courts. This does not deprive you of the protection of any mandatory law of the country you live in.
How the app handles information — including the coordinates it sends to the weather provider — is set out in the Privacy Policy.
If these terms change, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
This English text is the canonical version of these terms. Translations are provided for convenience. Where a translation differs from this English text, the English text governs, to the extent local law allows. If you find a discrepancy between versions, please tell us and we will fix it.
