Moon Tonight
Tonight’s Moon, at a glance.
Coming soon to the App Store and Google PlayWhat you get
- One large Moon, drawn for your place and the time right now: how much of it is lit, which way the lit edge leans, and the phase name.
- Tonight’s moonrise and moonset, and the fourteen nights ahead with a small Moon for each.
- The dates of the next full and new Moon, on your place’s calendar.
- “Local sky” turns the Moon the way it appears from where you are; a simple Northern or Southern diagram if you prefer.
- Optional reminders on the evening of a full or new Moon, at the time you pick. Off by default — we won’t nag you.
Honest about the sky
Moon Tonight shows the Moon’s phase. Whether you can see it tonight depends on cloud, horizon and daylight, which the app does not predict. The phase, illumination and event dates are calculated on your phone and checked against published astronomical tables; moonrise and moonset times come from WeatherAPI.com. Moon imagery is from NASA’s Scientific Visualization Studio.
Quietly respectful
No tracking. No data sales. Your approximate location, or a place you choose, goes to the weather service for moonrise and moonset times, and to your phone’s operating system to look up the town name — nowhere else. We run no servers and collect nothing.
Free with a single unobtrusive banner; one small one-time purchase removes it forever. No subscriptions, ever.
